    QPS helps automotive engineers to specify the right products in a sustainable world. The steady evolution of the program has enabled many global OEM’s to specify ever-higher performance standards and represents:

    What do we do?

    We supply and develop QPS standards that meet and exceed OEM specifications. We validate applicators processes by conducting audits, carrying out inspections and testing the production output to make sure they meet pre-defined QPS standards and agreed technical requirements.

    We monitor and report results on a global scale to be able to service and continuously improve performance.

High strength steel

High strength steel can enable a 25% weight reduction compared to regular steel, but how do you continue to ensure durability? 

As steel parts get lighter, corrosion protection becomes ever more important to their durability and safety.  Our market leading anti-corrosion coatings , optimize the corrosion resistance of high strength and traditional steels.   

Steel is used extensively

For most vehicles, 60% of the total weight comes from steel parts.  Steel is attractive because of its low cost, manufacturability, recyclability, and the availability of specialized alloys.  Not to mention the confidence that engineers have with this well-characterized and dependable material.  But steel is a fairly dense metal, corrodes easily and the parts can be heavy.

'Lighter' steel

The use of high strength steel allows engineers to design parts that are both strong and lighter, while maintaining steel’s other practical advantages.  This approach has grown steadily over the decades. 

Recent developments in micro-alloyed steels with manganese, molybdenum, and silicon have resulted in ultra-high strength steels with extremely high specific strength after heat treatment. These materials offer the ability to cast uniquely thin-walled shapes and complex geometries.
Such “third-generation” steels provide high strength and the good ductility that makes steel so useful in a manufacturing operation.  

Protecting these new steels

Specialized alloys and advanced post treatments such as passivates and dry film lubricants provide wear and corrosion resistance to protect, modify coefficient of friction and optimize electrical grounding properties. Additionally, our ZinKlad applicators applying coatings to a common audited standard, ensuring consistent performance, globally.
