QPS

  • Meeting directives, such as ELV REACh and RoHS continues to be essential requirements. QPS delivers on all of these needs. QPS complies with the conditions set forth in the ISO 9001: 2015.

     

    QPS helps automotive engineers to specify the right products in a sustainable world. The steady evolution of the program has enabled many global OEM’s to specify ever-higher performance standards and represents:

    • Approved applicators: Applying these products to a common audited standard ensures the same coating performance throughout the applicator base.
    • High performance: Exceeding the high demands for corrosion resistance and exceptionally consistent torque and tension characteristics.
    • Global consistency: Wherever ZinKlad, DecoKlad or XMAPP standards are applied, applicators know they are using the same high-performance products.

    What do we do?

    We supply and develop QPS standards that meet and exceed OEM specifications. We validate applicators processes by conducting audits, carrying out inspections and testing the production output to make sure they meet pre-defined QPS standards and agreed technical requirements.

    We monitor and report results on a global scale to be able to service and continuously improve performance.

    We believe that we are able to assure a global consistent performance at a local level meeting the global OEM requirements with a select number of world class applicators.

    How do we do what we do?

    ESI Automotive has developed a unique Quality Performance System called QPS that tackles the challenges for high-performance automotive coatings. OEM’s can be confident that the same coatings and consistent performance are available worldwide.

Complex OEM requirements

OEM requirements become constantly more complex. To fulfill them, enormous efforts must be done, to select, develop and fine-tune best in class processes for a constant and high-quality production. One part is to have the right chemistry and materials in place, but the right production equipment and parameters as well as the right ensemble of processes and process steps are also key to success. 

The selection of processes requires a partner with a complete portfolio, that can meet all major OEM requirements. The ESI Automotive team consists of many full-time specialists in all regions of the world, who are partners of and in permanent contact with engineers and decision makers of the OEMs. At the end of their hard work, that can take many months or even years for one project, we receive in many cases an OEM approval.  

Also in this respect, the recent ESI acquisitions resulted in an added value for you, our customers: a lot of new and additional OEM and 1st TIER approvals, that are now available. The total number of approvals are currently at 747.

MacDermid Enthone has a balanced approval portfolio, consisting mainly of anticorrosion and decorative finishes.

The majority of the COVENTYA approvals came with approx. 63% from the anticorrosion sector, 29% were MicrGleit approvals, a special product line for lubrication solutions, and 8% were Aluminum Surface Treatment (AST) approvals.

Our OEM team will continue to work on additional approvals. Because we have almost a complete portfolio in the product line of corrosion protection processes and are also in a very good position for decorative finishes, we will focus on the future more on the new requirements of e-mobility and autonomous driving, always in accordance with the future needs of a changing automotive industry.
